Movie: Ek Villain
Music: Ankit Tiwari
Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir
Singer: Ankit Tiwari
Jab tak hum kisi ke humdard nahi bante na,
Tab tak hum dard se aur dard hum se juda nahi hota
Unless we share someone's pain,
We don't get separated from our [own] pain and pain doesn't get separated from us.
Yahin doobe din mere
Yahin hote hain savere
Yaheen marna aur jeena
Yaheen mandir aur madeena..
Here only my days end.
Here alone the mornings begin.
Here I have to live and die.
Here are all my pilgrimages.
[Mandir is temple, word used for a Hindu temple in India, and Madeena/ Madinah [Medina] is a holy city in Islam.]
Teri galliyan.. galiyan teri galiyan..
Mujh ko bhaavein galiyaan teri galliyaan
Teri galiyan.. galiyan teri, galiyan..
Yoon hi tadpaavein, galliyan teri, Galliyaan..
Your streets. Streets, your streets
Your streets suit me, your streets.
Your streets. Streets, your streets
They agonize me, your streets.
Tu meri neendon mein sota hai
Tu mere ashqon mein rota hai
Sargoshi si hai khayaalon mein
Tu na ho, phir bhi tu hota hai
Hai silaa tu mere dard ka
Mere dil ki duaayein hain.. Teri galliyan
You sleep in my sleep,
You cry in my tears.
There is your whisper in my thoughts,
Even when you're not there, you are there.
You're the result of my pain..
They're the wishes of my heart, your steets.
Kaisa hai rishta tera-mera
Be-chehra phir bhi kitna gehra
Ye lamhe, lamhe ye resham se
Kho jaayein.. kho naa jaayein hum se
Kaafilaa, waqt ka rok le..
Ab dil se judaa na hon..
How's this relationship of your and mine,
It doesn't have a face and yet it's so deep.
These moments, these moments like silk..
We shouldn't lose them.
The caravan of time, let's stop it.
Now they (your streets) shouldn't get separated from the heart..
Teri Galiyaan, galiyaan teri galiyaan..
Yoonhi tadpaaven, galiyan teri.. galiyaan
Your streets. Streets, your streets
They agonize me, your streets.
[Smile..]

ReplyDeleteY put madeena or mandir in the song
ReplyDeleteits degrades the act pilgrimages i dnt know about hinduism but songs in islam are forbidden and i think ppl shud respect this
Isn't sufi islamic? Just curious.
DeleteDear anonymous, please Google the English word 'Metaphor' . That should give you some clarification love.. Mandir and Madinah are used in the context of emphasizing that the streets of his lover is where he feels spiritually inclined.
Deleteadmin please publish translation with lyrics of new song Dhuan Dhuan sung by Arijit Singh of the movie Fugly..
ReplyDeleteWhat a song?
ReplyDeleteAdmin, please remove or change the word "Madina" from this song becoz it hurts every muslim's sentiments. Since, it is forbidden in our religion.
ReplyDeleteIt doesnt Hurt every muslim. Didnt feel a thing. Stop being such a baby. If you dont like it, dont listen to the song.
DeleteExactly...Its beautiful.. Go view my reply on the first anonymous's comment. Its purely a metaphoric example.
DeleteSuperb translation buddy
ReplyDelete@Anoymous:
ReplyDeleteI've not mentioned the word Madina in my translations, and just used 'pilgrimages' in general which gives the general meaning. However, since the lyrics belong to the lyrics writer/company, it would not make any sense for me to remove them from here, as it's at their discretion.
If the word is wrongly portrayed in the meaning I have written there, please let me know and it will be taken care of.
What is the meaning of madeena?
ReplyDeleteAwesome <3 luv this song
ReplyDeleteheat touching song and lyrics am lovn it
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly does it mean by, 'You sleep in my sleep, you cry in my tears'?
ReplyDeleteTu meri neendon mein sota hai would mean something like, when I sleep, then only you sleep within me, else, all the time you're awake in me.
ReplyDeleteBut it's the latter part that makes it better. When he says tu mere ashqon mein rota hai, you sleep through my tears, he means that when I cry, in my tears it's actually you crying, that is, it's your sadness that is coming out. You are a part of me.
mandir aur madeena.. wow wat a thought.. hats off to the writer. this d real secularism.
ReplyDeleteLuv this song... It's amazing just awesome ....!!!!!!! It makes me feel awesome ... Superb song never
ReplyDeleteCould you please explain to me the significance of the term galliyan, or streets, in this context?
ReplyDeleteI think "streets" in this sense could mean my path towards you. Not 100% sure though, just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI believe Galiyan means "alleys" or "lanes" (depending if you using American or British English).
ReplyDeleteStreets is sarkaan :)
By the word "galliyan", I believe the translation would be "words". So the lyrics are saying how one's words, or what they say, hurt the other person.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say I love this song so much I feel the same way as this songs meaning
ReplyDeleteI love this song, this and Zaroorat are great. Shraddha did a great job with this song.
ReplyDeleteHarshit, can you add share buttons to your posts for fb, twitter etc. Sometimes I want to share them. You can add them right under the posts with a widget I think.
The galliyan here literally mean streets. When he is saying teri galliyan he is talking about the streets where she(his love) lived , where he can feel her presence. That is actually the theme of the song, her streets is a thing which he likes as well as they make him sad (in a way that she is no longer there)
ReplyDeleteOhh soo veryy deep..it was my favorite song before i knew what the lyrics mean but noww its even more favorite
ReplyDeleteHeart touching song. Love it. Don't try to draw controversies out of it. There's nothing in this song which degrades Muslim sentiment. Even im a Muslim. Don't try to be radical
ReplyDeleteit's real a nice song and i real appreciate it!! oops!! AB DIL SE JUDAA NA HON
ReplyDeletestreets? wth does that have to do with her?
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwwwww........how sweet n romantic
ReplyDelete@Brown Hammer: Streets, what does that have to do with her?
ReplyDeleteBro, it's all poetic and expressive of the bloke's intense love and with a touch of melancholy..
The boy was neck-deep in love with her and lingers in her street for days and months jus to catch a glimpse, adore, love and treasure her.
When she no longer appears in the street, he goes mad and gets overwhelmed by disgust, frustration, sadness and sings a song that spells melancholy..
I don't know, but I'm no poet to describe such deep-seated feelings to your satisfaction, except that I enjoy them personally.. Streets here is a metaphor and he even considers those streets that she lived in are holy..
Btw, I'm no native speaker of Hindi and I'm from South-India but understand Hindi..
Hope you like it..
Such an amazing lyrics
