Tutak Tutak Tutiya Meaning

Well, this one is a bit confusing, as tootak tootak tootiyaan (or tutak tutak tutiyan) sounds like 'you look at the berry tree,' but then as per a couple of interviews of Malkit Singh, the maker of the song, it was just that he wanted some random words for dance music as it's quite loved in England where he lives, and he chose tutak tutak tutiyaan for he could easily sing that and the public could always respond with Haii/Hey Jamalo.

So, while these words are talking about the mulberry tree (and there is another reference in the next line, aaja tootan waale kuh te — come to the well by the mulberry tree), they really aren't for thinking about, but simply words to dance on.

The word darkhaast or darkhast is nothing but a way of saying darkhwaast (Devanagari:दरख़्वास्त,Persian:درخواست) which is Urdu for 'request.' Another song from Baar Baar Dekho that sounds like any other wedding song (actually a little more sober and probably longer lasting) but has some nuances to it. The song picks up a couple of typical Punjabi wedding things and uses them quite cleverly. I don't remember aalu bade karaare being used in mainstream Bollywood yet, though Latte di chaadar was well used in Queen, and this one is a bit on similar lines. Other than that one thing I kind of loved was the talk about the angry jijja and fuffaD, which is something that is kind of going from Indian weddings now, but used to be an integral part of them until even a decade or so ago. Now the film Cabaret has gotten a version of the song, where the lines 'Bibi Sanam Jaanam, Anaar-e-Sistaanam' are there as in the original folk song, though the latter lines are different. The words 'Bibi Sanam Jaanam' simply mean Dear, beloved lady, and 'anaar-i-sistaanam' means a pomegranate of Sistan, which is a place in Iran, where the pomegranates are supposed to be very sweet. Nil Battey Sannata means nothing, or if you'd allow me, 'absolutely nothing.'

Nil is an English word, which means zero, nothing. So that part is clear.

BaTTey or baTey (or baTe, or baTay) is a Hindi term from mathematics, which means 'divided by,' and is used most commonly as 'upon' part in fractions, separating the numerator and the denominator. The word actually comes from Hindi 'banTe' which means 'divided.'

SannaaTa is Hindi/Urdu for silence, mostly used to signify acute silence. However, the meaning of nil baTTey sannaTa has nothing to do with mathematics as such, because sannaTa, even when used as Zero, would give undefined result. Instead, nil baTTey sannaTa is a term to say 'nothing' in a proverbial, dramatic manner.

Though, living in Hindi heartland, I've heard Zero baTey sannaTa a lot more times than the rarely heard Nil baTTey SannaTa. Maybe it's part of the updated slang. And if not, I guess it could now be that.
