Music: A R Rahman
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
Singer: Nikhita Gandhi
Music Label: T-Series
A slow, jazzy song composed by Rahman and sung by Nikhita Gandhi who is most known for her Raabta title song and JHMS's Ghar in Hindi. The song begins with the lines 'mujhe chaand pe le chalo , taare dikha do mujhe', and reminded me of Frank Sinatra's 1954 classic 'Fly me to the moon', though it's only these two lines which sound similar, as Irshad Kamil takes the song in a different, bit of a Hindi-Urdu shaayri zone, or rather a more contemporary version of the same after this. A nice, light track.
mujhe chaand pe le chalo
taare dikha do mujhe
hai raat bhar ka safar ye
kal ko naa milna mujhe
Take me to the moon,
show me the stars.
it’s just a night-long journey,
don’t meet me tomorrow.
mujhe chaand pe le chalo
taare dikha do mujhe
shamma si main jal rahi hoon
aao bujhaa do mujhe
mujhe chaand pe le chalo
Take me to the moon,
show me the stars,
I’m burning like a candle,
come, extinguish me.
Take me to the moon.
maana abhi behki hoon
chaahat mein main mehaki hoon
maikhana paimana main
peene se Darta hai kyun
I admit that I am inebriated right now,
I’m fragrant in love.
I’m the bar, and the glass,
Why are you afraid of drinking.
naa tu shareefon sa hai
na main shareefon si hoon
tere mere darmiyaan
hain faasle bol kyun
Neither are you like some gentleman,
nor am I like some lady.
Then why are there distances
between you and me?
mujhe chaand pe le chalo
taare dikha do mujhe
hai raat bhar ka safar ye
kal ko naa milna mujhe
mujhe chaand pe le chalo
taare dikhaa do mujhe
shamma si main jal rahi hoon
aao bujha do mujhe
